I love ranch. Like so much. I dip pizza in it, I dip french fries in it. There may be nothing that I wouldn't dip in ranch, which is repelling if you ask my children.
Making your own ranch at home is actually super easy. You only need a few ingredients. The base of this buttermilk ranch is, you guessed it, buttermilk, sour cream and mayonnaise.
Add in some dried herbs and some fresh chives and you have a really delicious ranch dressing. I think this ranch tastes much better after it's had a chance to chill in the fridge, however, I've used it last minute and it's also good.
Use it for my favorite BLT wedge salad, buffalo wings (or this buffalo chicken salad), or this cast iron skillet pizza. Now I'm hungry.

Ingredients
- 4 oz sour cream
- 4 oz mayo
- 3 oz buttermilk + more if you want it thinner
- 3 tbsp chives, chopped
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp dried dill
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
Instructions
- Combine the sour cream, mayo, buttermilk, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, dried dill, salt and pepper in a bowl. Whisk until the dressing is mixed. Chill.
- After the dressing chills it may thicken up.
- For best results chill 24 hours in the fridge before using.
