It doesn't get any simpler than this salsa recipe. I've been sitting on it for the past year, making it almost weekly and it turns out perfect every...single...time.
I do think that your choice of canned tomatoes makes a big difference though. I found a really good canned tomato that I love and have been using it for all of my recipes. It's less acidic than other ones I've tried. So it could just be getting your tomatoes correct.
I've been using the sprouts brand "Organic Italian Whole Tomatoes". So if you have a Sprouts grocery in your area, I highly suggest trying it.
Chill your salsa a few days for best flavor.


Best Salsa
The best homemade salsa, ever!
Ingredients
- 28 oz organic Italian style whole tomatoes, canned
- almost a whole bunch of cilantro, stems removed
- 4 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ½ lime, juiced
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- 3 green onions, ends removed
- ½ small white onion
- 1 serrano, stem removed
- 1 jalapeño, stem removed
Instructions
- This will be a spicier salsa, if you want it to be mild, remove the seeds from the serrano and jalapeño first. You can adjust the spice level with how much of the seeds/membrane you include of your peppers.
- In a food processor add the canned tomatoes, cilantro, garlic cloves, salt, lime juice, lemon juice, green onion, white onion, serrano and jalapeno.
- Pulse. Chill in the fridge.
Notes
Best flavor after chilling in the fridge at least a day.
