irish scones

These traditional Irish scones are delicious! They are so easy to make and take just a handful of ingredients that you are bound to have on hand such as flour, butter, buttermilk, sugar and egg. Irish butter is the star of this recipe, making the scones light and buttery.

sift the dry ingredients three times, add cold cubed butter

use your hands to mix the butter in

add in buttermilk and egg

use a large spoon to combine

roll it out on a floured surface

use a biscuit cutter to cut out circles

*dip the biscuit cutter in flour after each time

place the scones on a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with buttermilk and a sprinkle of sugar


serve with jam and cream
