Best Buttermilk Pancakes From Scratch

This will be your go to recipe for homemade buttermilk pancakes. These are easy to make, super fluffy, not overly sweet and a family favorite. I use this exact pancake recipe for my family every weekend. You can even make a double batch and freeze some for later.

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 3/4 c milk
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  2. In a large glass bowl, melt the butter
  3. Use a glass measuring cup to heat the buttermilk and milk, together, for 1 minute
  4. Whisk the eggs in to the butter, then add the buttermilk/milk, whisking everything together
  5. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients
  6. Whisk this together until combined, it doesn’t have to be fully smooth, but most of the big lumps out
  7. Heat a griddle over the stove on medium/low heat
  8. Grease with butter
  9. Use a 1/4 c measuring spoon to ladle batter on to the griddle
  10. Flip when bubbles have formed on the top
  11. Remove when fully cooked through
  12. Serve with butter and syrup on top
